Residents Keep Up Fight to Be Heard by Henley
Salford Council planning committee confirmed outline approval for Henley Investment Management planning application to demolish the northern section of Regent Retail Park and redevelop the site on Thursday 6th November. This was not the result we were hoping for from the planning meeting as we believe there are significant outstanding concerns with Henley’s plans that have not been addressed. Save Regent Retail Park Campaign (SRRPC) … Continue reading Residents Keep Up Fight to Be Heard by Henley
Regent Retail Park: Residents continue fight to have their voice heard
In July 2024 Henley Investment Management submitted a planning application to demolish affordable shops at Regent Retail Park to build the tallest tower outside of London. In response local residents set up the Save Regent Retail Park Campaign (SRRPC) to fight Henley’s plans. Hundreds of residents have submitted objections to Salford Council and thousands have signed the petitions. In July 2025 SRRPC argued at a … Continue reading Regent Retail Park: Residents continue fight to have their voice heard

Crumpsall Synagogue Attack The attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall that took place on Yom Kippur was horrifying. At this most sacred time in the Jewish calendar, my thoughts and prayers are with those victims who lost their life and those affected, as well as their families and Jewish communities across Salford, Greater Manchester and beyond. Antisemitism and all forms of hatred must be challenged … Continue reading October Newsletter

Protecting Our Communities and Key Workers The Government’s new Immigration White Paper has caused real fear among many people in Salford who have built their lives here. Constituents have told me of their worries for their families, their jobs, and their future. Migrant workers are not only neighbours and friends, they also make an enormous contribution to our local services and economy. They pay their … Continue reading August & September Newsletter

It will push thousands more into poverty, with 750,000 low-income sick and disabled people set to lose £3,000 a year. Throughout its passage in Parliament, I argued … Continue reading July Newsletter

Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill I have been contacted by a huge number of constituents in the past few weeks who are terrified at the proposed cuts outlined in the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill. Already over 6.3 million people in poverty were in a family with a disabled family member but sadly the Government’s own impact analysis shows that cuts … Continue reading June Newsletter

Selling the Family Silver Doesn’t Pay: The Need for Nationalisation Parliament was recalled for a rare Saturday sitting over the Easter recess to pass an emergency law aimed at saving British Steel’s Scunthorpe plant from imminent closure. I was pleased to support the Government rightly using emergency powers to safeguard British steel production and the thousands of jobs it supports. British Steel operates the UK’s … Continue reading April & May Newsletter

Disability Benefits Reform This week the Government announced a package of reforms to the social security system – the ‘Pathways to Work’ Green Paper. I welcome the Government’s planned investment in tailored, non-compulsory employment support and other sensible reforms but I am deeply concerned that removing £5 billion from the benefits system by 2030 would completely undermine this positive step and restrict support to those … Continue reading March Newsletter

Injured Patients and Staff A number of MPs across the House have been contacted by constituents regarding the conduct and competency of a spinal consultant, who was sacked in 2015. Families and patients operated on by Doctor ‘F’ over two decades at the Salford Royal Hospital, Spire Manchester Hospital and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, along with concerned staff, formed a support group. The group … Continue reading February Newsletter
